Sally Shepard

I live outside of Lodi on a 3 acre parcel with 2 homes with my husband of 35 yrs. and my daughter and family.  I work full time in the accounting dept of a construction company and I just celebrated my 56th birthday.

We have a fifth wheel that we camp in.  We started camping in a tent 30+ years ago when our kids were young.  Our favorite destination is Lake Tahoe, staying at either Tahoe Valley Campground or Campground by the Lake.   We usually stay for the 4th of July week or the Labor Day week or both.

When we want a weekend getaway, we tend to go to Far Horizons 49er Village in Plymouth or  Lake Camanche.   On our next short trip, we want to go to Rancho Seco and take our kayaks.   We enjoy camping because it allows us to get away more often at a reasonable cost as well as take our dog with us.   Our 2 kids each have their own trailers so it makes for fun family getaways.

Our dream is to retire and travel the United States someday.   With a trailer it is easy to take off for a few days- just grab some food and clothes.   We also like sleeping in our own bed and the convenience of not always having to go out and eat like you do when you stay in a motel.

Picture 1: This is Dockweiler Beach RV Park. It is located right on the beach in Playa del Rey. The only drawback is the jet noise.

Picture 2: These are the Elephant Seals at Point Piedras Blancas, Hwy 1 a few miles N. of Hearst Castle, San Simeon, CA. This is a worthwhile stop on the way between Morro Bay and Big Sur. Choose a local campground>

Tiebreaker Picture: This is Salmon Lake, part of the Lakes Basic Recreation Area. There’s a lodge across the lake that you get to only by boat. This area is especially beautiful now with all the fall foliage. Choose a local campground>
